Analog today. Digital tomorrow

Many military platforms face component obsolescence and interface challenges long before the platform itself reaches end of service life.

CST supports Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU) programs with rugged electro-optical solutions designed to bridge legacy and modern architectures, enabling low-risk integration today while providing a clear path for future modernization.

 Built for MLU

Analog today. Digital tomorrow

Hybrid video output for phased upgrades

MLU programs are rarely executed all at once. CST solutions are designed to integrate with both legacy analog and modern digital video infrastructures, allowing operators to preserve existing displays, recorders, and cabling while introducing new capabilities through controlled upgrade cycles.
  • Legacy Analog Integration: Integration with existing displays, recorders, and video distribution infrastructure.

  • Digital Video Architectures: Ready for modern mission systems, networked video distribution, and future platform upgrades.

  • Flexible Migration Path: Support incremental transition from legacy video infrastructures to modern digital architectures without replacing every subsystem at once.

This approach minimizes certification effort, reduces integration risk, and lowers retrofit complexity while extending platform service life.

Phased migration
Stage 1

Deploy new CST sensors on existing analog infrastructure with minimal system changes.

Stage 2

Analog and digital video paths run in parallel, enabling gradual modernization and reduced integration risk.

Stage 3

Migrate to full digital video distribution once the platform architecture is ready.

Why Retrofit

Modular Configuration Options

Restore capability without a full redesign

Military platforms can remain operational for decades, while sensors, electronics, interfaces, and displays become obsolete.
Upgrading the electro-optical system can restore and enhance capability without the cost and integration risk of a full platform redesign.

Key outcomes

  1. Replace obsolete sensors and interfaces while preserving proven platform architecture

  2. Improve day/night performance and operational capability

  3. Reduce downtime and integration risk during staged MLUs

  4. Extend service life and improve readiness across fleets

Legacy Protocol Compatibility

Designed to work with existing platform electronics

CST supports widely used military and industrial interfaces, helping connect electro-optical sensors to existing control systems, operator stations, displays, video infrastructure, and platform networks with minimal redevelopment effort.

Modern Performance, Legacy Integration

The platform may be legacy. The environment is not.

Today’s missions demand greater awareness, longer detection ranges, and reliable performance in degraded visual environments. CST helps modernize legacy platforms with advanced electro-optical technologies while minimizing integration risk.

Linked Multi-Camera Architecture For Analog systems

One primary camera, multiple linked cameras

CST cameras can be configured in a linked multi-camera setup, where one primary camera controls one or more secondary cameras via CAN Bus. This enables multiple cameras to be connected through a simplified system architecture.

This is especially useful in systems using a slip ring, where several cameras can be routed through the primary camera to reduce cabling complexity in rotating platforms such as land and naval turrets, remote weapon stations, pan/tilt units, gimbals, and multi-camera EO systems.
